Alishan 2009 Sunrise Impression Concert
As the earth revolves on its axis, it creates the shift between day and night, and the difference between the four seasons; spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Every day is a new day, and every year holds new promises and hope. With every turn of the earth, we are creating new life and new stories, all of which are waiting for us to discover and explore.
At the precise moment when we make the shift from an old year to a new one, there will be a concert at Alishan, 2200 meters above sea level. Atop the most famous mountain in Taiwan, enjoy the sounds of eclectic music, experience the breathtaking sunrise and immerse yourself in a moment that combines the beats of this earth and the movements of this universe. Such a unique way of ushering in the New Year is a not-to-be-missed event.
Sunrise, a sea of clouds, green forests and winding railways are among Alishan's top sceneries. Seeing the sunrise from Alishan is a wish that every Taiwanese must fulfill in their lifetime. Therefore, the Alishan Sunrise Impression Concert has become the latest signature event at Alishan.
New Year does not have to be celebrated with loud noise and large crowds. To start the New Year atop Alishan is not only memorable, but also meaningful.
The Alishan Sunrise Impression Concert began in 2002, and has seen seven consecutive years of success. Every year, the Concert attracts thousands of people who gather at Alishan to welcome the first dawn of the New Year together.
At the Alishan Sunrise Impression Concert, we combine the sounds of music with the beats of the earth to express every natural impulse we feel. Let us pass on our memories and stories with the same strength and energy that planets possess as they travel through limitless time, welcoming countless days and nights with every revolution.
Amidst the music and beats of the Concert, we hope to welcome 2009 with the most magnificent sunrise, heartwarming music and the breathtaking beauty of our earth.
The Alishan Sunrise Impression Concert will usher in 2009 with an extraordinary lineup of world-famous musicians. Every year, these performers share with audiences their unique sound against the backdrop of mountain valleys and a beautiful sunrise.
This year, the concert organizers have invited internationally-renowned environmental musician Matthew Lien to put on a memorable show! In order to ensure maximum interaction between Matthew Lien and the audience, the location of this year's concert is set at the Chushan Helicopter Apron, where a specially designed concert platform and world-class sound system is guaranteed to ensure an extraordinary concert experience.
Hailing from Canada, environmental musician Matthew Lien captivated Taiwan audiences with his debut album, Bleeding Wolves. His music incorporates natural sounds of the country, demonstrating his passion for the earth and environment. His love for Asia and Taiwanese culture can also be heard in his music, where he successfully blends Eastern and Western sounds to create music that is truly unique.
Throughout the years, Lien has successfully composed, produced and performed an array of songs inspired by his Yukon background, along with musical roots found in traditional Chinese music and sounds from the wilderness. Lien draws inspiration from the natural environment, and his travels around the world have contributed considerably to his music.
